“I have been part of the Wenda Qingyuan Water Environment Public Welfare Center since I was a freshman. Realizing the beautiful Chinese dream has become our big dream,” said the current legal representative of Wenzhou Wenda Qingyuan Water Environment Public Welfare Center, Shan Tianshang, who is also a student majoring in Environmental Science at Wenzhou University. This summer vacation, “Wenda Qingyuan” came to Beige Village, Yueqing City, where they held a one-week environmental protection class, preaching environmental protection knowledge to children. 

From speeches on “waste classification”, “biodiversity conservation”, and “water environment introduction” to interesting small experiments such as “siphon and tension force of water” and “cyanotype”, Wenda Qingquan brought interesting and beneficial environmental protection knowledge to the children of Beige village and shared the beautiful story of the construction of “waste free Beige” with local children.

Today’s Wenda Qingyuan Water Environment Public Welfare Center of Wenzhou, transforming from Wenruitang River Volunteer Service Station, has rooted in Wenzhou for 18 years, leading over 4,000 volunteers to visit 11 counties and urban area in Wenzhou, and carrying out nearly 300 volunteer activities, with a total volunteer time of 80,000 hours. The center has established three ecological civilization education bases: Fengzhai Village of Pingyang, Yubei Village of Yongjia and Beige Village of Yueqing, to carry out in-depth publicity on water control and environmental protection, research on waste classification and water control services based on science and technology.

Since 2015, Wenda Qingyuan has used summer practice every year to collect water samples and conduct water quality testing and analysis. It has inspected domestic sewage treatment and river water quality testing work in nearly 100 villages such as Ouhai District, Lucheng District, Longwan District and Yongjia County, and provided a number of policy recommendations for them.

It is understood that the project has won the Excellent Team of Summer Social Practice in Zhejiang Province, the bronze award of Zhejiang Youth Volunteer Service Project Competition, and the third prize of the 12th “Challenge Cup” College Students’ Entrepreneurship Plan Competition in Zhejiang Province.
