College of Civil Engineering and Architecture
Established in 1984, the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture has two departments, namely, Civil Engineering Department and Architecture Department. It built a total of 5 research institutes, including Geotechnical Engineering Research Institute, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Engineering Research Institute, Green Building and Structural Engineering Research Institute, Architectural Design and Urban and Rural Planning Research Institute, and Real Estate Research Institute. The College also built Zhejiang Collaborative Innovation Center of Sea Flat Reclamation and Ecological Protection, Zhejiang Key Laboratory of Soft Soil Foundation and Sea Flat Reclamation Engineering Technology, Zhejiang Engineering Research Center of Coastal Soft Soil Foundation Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Technology, Zhejiang Wenzhou University Architecture and Civil Engineering Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, Wenzhou Building Energy Conservation, Emission Reduction and Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Engineering Technology Research Center, Wenzhou Industry-Education Integration Demonstration Base, etc. In terms of facilities, the College has hypergravity centrifuge (150g.t), MTS structural loading system, full-scale traffic load model experimental system, GDS full set of soil dynamics, unsaturated soil experimental equipment, and transportation piezoelectric research and development equipment for the entire industry chain. In addition, the three-dimension six-degree-of-freedom large-scale shaking table (30t), wind tunnel and other laboratories are under construction.
We offer three undergraduate programs in civil engineering, urban underground space engineering, and architecture. Civil engineering is rated as the national first-class undergraduate program, the characteristic program in Zhejiang Province, and has obtained the Chinese engineering education certification. The discipline of civil engineering is rated as the first-class discipline in Zhejiang Province, and has the qualification to grant professional-pathway postgraduate degrees in civil and hydraulic engineering. The College has a total of 1,191 students, including 672 undergraduates majoring in civil engineering, 260 undergraduates majoring in architecture, 206 postgraduate students, and 53 international students.
There are 95 faculty members, including 69 full-time teachers. The College has a provincial-level innovation team for tidal flat reclamation and geotechnical engineering technology, and a municipal-level innovation team for soft soil foundation and sea flat reclamation engineering technology. It collaborates with Zhejiang University to build an Energy Saving Team. The College is home to 1 winner of the National Natural Science Foundation of China & Outstanding Youth Fund, 1 winner of Zhejiang Province Outstanding Youth Fund, 2 candidates for Zhejiang Province Ten Thousand Talents Program, 7 candidates for Zhejiang Provincial 151 Talent Program, 1 Wenzhou municipal outstanding talent, 2 Wenzhou municipal leading talents in scientific and technological innovation, 6 Wenzhou municipal top young talents, and 10 candidates for Wenzhou Municipal 551 Talents Program. There are 3 candidates for the Provincial Outstanding Young Teachers Funding Program, 1 Provincial New Teaching Talent and 1 Winner of Provincial Teaching Skill Award.
The College attaches great importance to student training. It actively explores new training models by revising the training plans in accordance with enterprise upgrading and innovation-driven requirements, aiming to cultivate smart construction talents in prefabricated building industrialization, BIM technology, sea flat reclamation, and green buildings.
